Here are some of the highlights of Jenna’s story from The Glare. Enjoy!
Before my dad died, Mom was a good mom. We used to do tons of crafts and stuff together all the time. Mom helped me make this tracing of my hand back before dad died. It’s cool how it looks all 3-D and everything.
I never took this “J” off my door. Every time I saw it, I remembered the way Mom used to be and how much fun we had deciding exactly where to put each flower.
Mom laughed at what a mess this made but marble painting with shaving cream and paint was really cool.
Mint. Whenever I smell it, I think of Mom.
This is where I live.
All the rocks and gravel here are pinkish or reddish or sometimes even almost purple. The ground is really hard underneath it and impossible to dig up.
I can’t believe Laney spent money buying cinnamon rolls…but I’m so glad she did. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without our tradition!
I wish we had orange trees of our own. Look at how much food there is, just growing from the branches of this tree!
What the heck is this?! What did Laney wrap in this cereal box?
This is the bookmark I made Laney.
At first, I didn’t understand how Laney could think there was anything good about what we were going through, but she was right. There was some stuff that was pretty okay.

This is the notice we got on our front door.
They always give us a mix of different kinds of bagels at the bagel store. Blueberry is my favorite!
The library saved my life!
Mary’s cookies are THE BOMB!
This will feed me for a month if I just eat twice a day!
I was sure that man at the library was going to say something about all my water bottles…but he didn’t!
Everything looks normal to me! What’s going on?!
That’s the last of my peanut butter. Now what am I going do?
It’s funny how a sandwich can change your life.
I can’t believe I can go get all the stuff I need! I’m totally going to fill the house so I won’t have to worry about anything when the glare ends!
My list (The Glare) Print a copy of all the stuff on my list.
I got one of those Beautifully Broken Buckles for my belt! Isn’t it cute?!
Check out the Beautifully Broken website!
Maybe the glare isn’t so bad after all! At least I’ll get to eat!

Weeds are starting to pop up everywhere. It’s lucky all the people from the home owner’s association are blind too, or the people in this house would get a letter warning them to take care of their weeds!
The man across the street dropped his ball of yarn as he was trying to get home. It bounced and rolled away from him; he was lucky he found it again!
When I got back from the store after the Tattoo Man shot his gun, I found the other guy’s baseball bat on the ground. There wasn’t any blood anywhere though, so maybe he didn’t get shot. Maybe he just dropped his bat and couldn’t find it again. I hope that’s what happened, anyway.
It’s pretty easy to tell which houses have people inside them because the blind people have to block off their windows with newspaper or cardboard.
Check out the target Susan made for me… she let Jeremy scribble on it and he said it was an “og” when she asked what he drew. (That’s how he says dog!)
Hmm…I thought maybe I should get a collar with jewels for Molly, but she’s not really that kind of dog–she’s more goofy rather than prissy. What do you think about the pink one?
The weeds are getting bigger and they’re everywhere. Nothing looks the same anymore but I guess things aren’t the same anymore, so why should they look that way?
